Prof. José Carlos Quadrado, President of the ENTER Network, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the national governing bodies of the Ordem dos Engenheiros (Order of Engineers) of Portugal, held on March 25, 2025, at the Técnico Innovation Center in Lisbon. During the event, he officially assumed the position of Chair of the Education and Research Specialization Committee (Comissão de Especialização em Ensino e Investigação).
The ceremony marked the beginning of a new term for the Ordem’s leadership, with Fernando de Almeida Santos starting his second mandate as Bastonário (President). The event brought together key figures from Portugal’s education and scientific sectors, including the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre.
Prof. Quadrado’s new role reinforces the strong connection between the ENTER Network and the Ordem dos Engenheiros, with a shared commitment to promoting excellence in engineering education and research.
As part of its responsibilities, the Education and Research Specialization Committee leads and promotes professional activities in its domain, including training and dissemination initiatives, issuing expert opinions for the award of the Specialist Engineer title, and supporting other national bodies of the Ordem on technical and scientific matters. Notably, the Committee is also tasked with coordinating the national-level certification process for engineering program faculty, helping to ensure the recognition and quality of engineering educators in Portugal.
